Coffee, coastal cliffs, and a Cape Split hike
Start the day with excellent coffee and a packed lunch, then head out for one of Nova Scotia’s most iconic hikes. The Cape Split trail leads through quiet forest to dramatic basalt cliffs overlooking the Bay of Fundy — a sweeping coastal panorama that makes the 13 km round-trip hike well worth the effort.
After a full day outdoors, return to NATURA for a relaxed evening cooking dinner at your tent and enjoying the quiet of the countryside.
Begin the morning at Just Us! Grand Pré Café & Roastery, which opens daily at 8:00 am. This well-known local café roasts its organic, fair-trade coffee on site.
Grab a fresh coffee to start the day and pick up sandwiches or baked goods to pack for the hike. It’s also a great place to pick up a pound of freshly roasted beans to take home.
From here, it’s a scenic drive toward Scots Bay and the Cape Split trailhead.
The Cape Split trail is about 13-km round trip and typically takes 4–6 hours. The well-marked path winds through quiet forest before opening onto grassy headlands and towering basalt cliffs.
At the end of the trail, the landscape suddenly opens to sweeping views across the Bay of Fundy and the Minas Basin, with powerful tides swirling far below.
It’s one of the most dramatic viewpoints in Nova Scotia — the perfect place to sit, enjoy the sandwiches you packed earlier, and take in the view before hiking back.
After a full day on the trail, head back to NATURA and settle in for a relaxed evening. Many guests enjoy ordering a Steak Dinner Basket, which features local pasture-raised beef and fresh seasonal vegetables, along with everything you need to prepare dinner at your campsite. Light the stove, cook your meal, and unwind after the hike. It’s a simple and satisfying way to end an adventurous day.
This is a full day trip. Plan to leave right after breakfast.

This outing pairs one of the best hikes in Nova Scotia with a relaxed start and finish. Coffee and breakfast in Grand Pré make a convenient stop on the way to the trailhead, and Cape Split delivers some of the most dramatic coastal views in the Bay of Fundy.
